Holy Hermitage of Saint George and Panagia Paramythia Anydro
Where there was a village
The Hermitage was founded in 1991 and is located on the site of the former village of Anhydro, which was abandoned after the German occupation. The beginning of Hesychastiri was the old church of the village, the church of Saint George (18th century). The katholikon (central church) is honored in the name of Panagia Paramythia.
The holy relics and relics include: a copy of the miraculous icon of the “Our Lady of Kazan” from Moscow, the blessing of the elder Elias of Optina, pieces of the holy relics of the Holy Apostles Andrew and Philip, Saint Raphael, Saint Anastasia of Rome, the Holy Five Martyrs, of Saint Nicholas, Saint Nektarios, Saint Methodia of Kimolos, Saint Panteleimonas.
In Holy Hermitage there are workshops of hagiography, gold embroidery and mosaics.
The Holy Hermitage celebrates:
a) in memory of the patron Saint George (April 23 or Easter Monday), and
b) on the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin (August 15), when a litany of the miraculous icon of Panagia Paramythia of Anydro takes place.
The Sanctuary remains open every day, from sunrise to sunset.
